Utilizing a complex location algorithm and tightly scheduled beacons, CUWB can support up to 3,300 locates per second (LPS) in MultiTime mode and a maximum Tag beacon rate of 100 Hz. This enables reliable and flexible tracking across a wide range of applications. To demonstrate these capabilities, Ciholas tracks 30 individual UWB Tags, each mounted inside a ball, using a beacon rate of 100 Hz.

In the video, we tracked a small number of tags with extremely high beacon rates to create a fun video with interesting visuals. Users can do much more, taking advantage of the 3,300 LPS capacity to track thousands of assets at lower rates, or operating networks with mixed rates. From warehousing to athletic tracking, the CUWB System’s flexible schedule allows users to max out their capacity in a way that works for their application. Below are some brief examples.

Warehouse Floor Example:

Different operational needs require different beacon rates for asset tracking. If a user is tracking inventory in a warehouse, they may configure their Tags to report location data at a beacon rate of 0.1 Hz, allowing their CUWB System to support up to 33,000 Tags.

The CUWB RTLS also supports mixed beacon rates. As an example, our warehouse operator might choose to track 200 employees at 10 Hz while also tracking up to 10,000 pallets at 0.1 Hz. Beacon rates are configurable for each Tag, allowing the system to accommodate a near infinite combination of Tag beacon rates and quantities.

Additionally, tag beacon rates can be adjusted on-the-fly using the CUWB API. In our warehouse scenario, forklifts are periodically parked for shift changes or maintenance. A geofence can be placed around the parking area, triggering an API call to lower the Tag beacon rate and free up capacity for other Tags.

High Dynamic Asset Tracking:

Some assets (RC cars and foam balls, to name a couple) move or change direction rapidly. These applications require high output data rates from Tags in order to accurately track objects and respond to stimuli with low-latency. A major strength of the CUWB RTLS is the ability to track the location of fast-moving objects. In our video, the RC car had a top speed of 23 MPH while the Tag delivered low-latency, real-time location at 100 Hz. The high data rate also allows for every bounce of every ball to be tracked precisely.

If you are ready to track your assets, the CUWB RTLS provides valuable location information for your business, no matter what you are tracking or how quickly it is moving.
